“How to Run for Election in Glenview”

Local elected officials have confirmed their participation in the May 2 event at the library co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters, Glenview Journal

The League of Women Voters of Glenview-Glencoe has a growing list of confirmed speakers for its upcoming “How to Run for Local Public Service in Glenview” co-sponsored by the League and Journal & Topics Media Group, publishers of the Glenview Journal.

The free event takes place at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 2 at the Glenview Public Library.

The public is encouraged to learn about basic requirements, state guidelines and deadlines for running for local office. In addition, local council elected officials will explain their role in serving the public and how to stand for election.

Tom Robb, journalist and political editor for the Glenview Journal, will discuss campaign communications strategies and best practices for working as a candidate with the media.

Confirmed attendees include Glenview Public Library Board Chair Allan Ruter, New Trier Dist. 203 School Board Member Avik Das, Glenview Dist. 34 School Board Member Mike Korman (who is also a former Glenview Plan Commissioner), Glenview Dist. Brandi Isaac and Robb, organizers of Caucus 34.

“If you are considering running for local government, now is the time to start planning and this forum will help you get started,” organizers say.
