Local school boards will no longer require students to be fully vaccinated to participate in extracurricular activities and sports, officials announced Friday.

In a joint statement, directors of education for Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board, Greater Essex County District School Board, Providence Catholic School Board and Viamonde School Board said officials of the The school had consulted with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and had resisted and adjusted the “guidance in our school communities” with school safety in mind.

Boards will no longer require students to be fully immunized to participate in sports and extracurricular activities.
