Municipal authorities published a call for applications on Monday.

“Being on a committee or board is an opportunity to contribute to the community and be part of the change,” said St. Marys clerk Jenna McCartney. “These committees are set up to provide strategic advice to the board on specific issues that impact the community.”

Boards and committees with vacancies include:

  • Adjustment committee
  • Community Policing Advisory Committee
  • Downtown Service Location Review Committee (short term)
  • Green Advisory Committee
  • Heritage and Culture Advisory Committee
  • Planning Advisory Committee
  • Leisure and Leisure Advisory Committee
  • St. Marys Public Library Board.

St. Marys councilors reviewed the city’s committee structure in July and are considering a recommendation to merge some of them, a process that happens every four years. The current number of vacancies is not out of the ordinary, McCartney said.

More information, including eligibility criteria and a description of each council and committee, is available on the city’s website, where applications are accepted until October 14.

Candidates will be considered by the newly elected board at a closed meeting in November. Selected board and committee members will be officially appointed on November 15.
