The Little Rock School District’s online community forum on proposals to close, combine and repurpose multiple school campuses will continue tonight on the district’s Youtube channel, LRSDlive.com.
The session, scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, is the third in an ongoing series of virtual and in-person forums hosted by the district.
Tonight’s online event focuses on the proposed abandonment of Western Hills Elementary School as a traditional campus. It would become the headquarters for the district’s Ignite virtual academy for K-12 students.
Also on tonight’s agenda are district proposals to remove pre-kindergarten classes from some campuses and add them to other campuses. The proposals ask:
• Assignment of two pre-kindergarten classes now to Terry Elementary at the Romine Early Childhood Center.
• Removed pre-kindergarten classes from Jefferson Elementary and added them to the Fair Park Early Childhood Education Center.
• Removed two pre-K classes from Stephens Elementary and added pre-K classes to Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary.
Tonight’s online forum will be followed by an in-person public forum on the district’s general facility plan from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8 at Southwest High School.
