Variety of topics on the agenda of the Salina Municipal Commission for Monday


Arts, proclamations, proposed ordinances and an executive session are among the items on the Salina Town Commission’s agenda for Monday.

About the meeting

Study sessions and City Commission meetings will be held in person in Room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street, and via Zoom until further notice. The meetings can also be viewed on the City of Salina YouTube channel,

If citizens wish to speak, either during the public forum or when the mayor requests public comment on an item, citizens present via Zoom should raise their hands so the meeting host can allow them to speak. Those attending the meeting in person will have the opportunity to speak at the podium.

In order for Commissioners to have an opportunity to review comments prior to the meeting, please email your comments or questions by 5:00 p.m. on the Sunday prior to the Monday meetings.

Ordinary meeting

Regular meeting to start at 4:00 p.m.

Commissioners must consider the following two proclamation requests.

Proclaim October 16-22, 2022 Friends of the Salina Public Library Week in the City of Salina. Gretta Kontas, president of the Friends of the Salina Public Library, is to read the proclamation.

Proclaim October 2022 National Arts and Humanities Month in the City of Salina. Brittany Willer, chair of the Salina Arts & Humanities Commission, is to read the proclamation.

Other items on the Salina Town Commission agenda for Monday are as follows.

● Consider authorizing the submission of a Risk Mitigation Grant Program Letter of Intent to the Kansas Division of Emergency Management for a right-of-way and parks pruning mitigation program.

●Consider second reading approval of a proposed ordinance amending Chapter 38, Section I of the Salina City Code by adopting the Standard Traffic Ordinance of 2022 for Kansas Cities issued by the League of Municipalities of Kansas.

●Consider approving at second reading a proposed ordinance amending Chapter 25, Section I of the City of Salina Code by adopting the 2022 Uniform Public Offense Code for Kansas Cities published by the League of Municipalities of Kansas.

● Consider first reading approval of a draft ordinance clarifying an amendment to the text of Section 42-508(d) governing the placement of temporary signs during the election season.

In addition, the commissioners are to meet in executive session to discuss the subject of legal considerations relating to the Drever Partners, LLC development proposal with legal counsel.
