On Tuesday March 9, the Woodland District 50 PTA hosted a forum for all candidates running for the District 50 School Board in the April 6 election.
This meeting was recorded via Zoom. The PTA acts as a neutral party and will not support any particular candidate. The purpose of this forum is to allow community members to learn more about the applicants.
The PTA provided a neutral moderator, Pat Arnold, a board member for McHenry Community High School District 156, where he is the interim board secretary.
Candidates who attended the forum were: Joseph DeRosa, Brianna Powvens (in writing), Carla N. Little, Anna Chang-Yen, Renea Amen, Corey Holmer, Katie A. Salyer Szostak (in writing) and Richard A. Stader- Shaw (writes).
Candidates had one minute each for opening remarks. After that, all participants were asked six predetermined questions and given up to two minutes to answer each question.
After the conclusion of the questions, each candidate had 90 seconds for closing remarks. The order of interventions was predetermined before the meeting using a randomizer.
Forum registration, along with candidate biographies and ground rules, are available on the PTA’s website, woodland50pta.com. The recording is also posted directly to YouTube and can be viewed at www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvj7lhCtmBw.
